Mini Bio

As a child, David spent years enjoying trophy successes playing rugby for Eton Manor RFC, cricket for Wanstead CC, Harold Wood CC and South Weald CC, and tennis at Linkside. In cricket, he made the elite group at NFBA, was picked for London Schools and became South Weald CC's youngest ever centurion.

However, from a young age a burning passion for Goalkeeping existed. One day he came with a letter from his Primary School informing that he had successfully beaten off the competition at a trial to be selected as the School's Goalkeeper - a surprise to his parents who weren't even aware of the trial in the first place!

He was then taken to Yilmaz Aksoy at ELGK Academy, who's feedback from the first session mentioned he was that David was bravest at that age he'd seen - no doubt an influence of the rugby playing! The multiple transferable rugby skills were a big asset as David also made brief appearances for Aldersbrook Athletic Peter Hucker Soccer School and Ridgeway Rovers during breaks in his rugby schedule.

In 2021, David's family moved from Wanstead to Brentwood, during the same time that he successfully trialled for West Ham Utd Foundation Academy. He joined the DW Goalkeeping Academy, an association which evolved into 1-2-1 mentoring with ex-West Ham Academy GK coach Dan Worthington, and represention by DWGK Management. The decision was made to drop rugby to focus on his football.

In March 2023, David successfully came through a double-trial process to be offered a conditional place at the Shenfield High School Sixth Form Football Academy, with the comments "We were impressed with your performance over two trials and hope you choose to join us. We had a large number of boys trialling, so it is a fantastic achievement to be offered on to the programme..". Although to their disappointment he turned down the opportunity for Academic reasons.

In May 2023, David won through another trial process to secure a place at Jack Wilshere's NCF Elites, with the feedback "We are delighted to offer David a place in the Centre. As you would have seen the standard is high, we hope that he is very proud to have earned his place".

In June 2023, David completed a 3 trial procedure, to achieve an offer to join Billericay Town FC u18s (EJA) and u20s for the 2023-24 season. However a serious back injury devasted his season.

David bounced back in 2024 to secure a place with Brentwood Town FC men's development squad. And be offered a place with Grays Athletic FC u18 EJA & FA Youth Cup squads after only 1 training session and 45 minutes of a Trial match (their coaches wanted him to sign up during Half-Time - he waited until the next day to formally sign though 😉 )! David is training with Gray's Mens 1st team squad this season too.
